Around 25-50% of all hemodialysis patient hospital stay are due to access problems. They may become uremic and feel tired. They don’t feel well enough to do anything that could improve their quality of life.
Putting needles into fistulae is a source of stress for patients. Poor cannulating can lead to problems that may lead to failure of access which means loss of dialysis lifeline. Access problems cause hospital stays, surgery, illness, loss of limb, even death.
